A number of folks have asked about the pumping out.
We do this so we don’t have to slog around in a foot of water.
This is the pump and with garden hose attached.
We run the hose out to the edge of the field
Drop it in the pond
Then we go away for two hours while it…
So the pond was empty by Saturday afternoon.
And then it all got rained back in Saturday overnight.
No big deal. We sleep much easier than we did trying to keep the water out with tarps, etc.
Sunday started out bleak - like 2 weeks ago.
A big green blob over all of South Florida.
We would not be denied our perfect record of working every single Sunday so we knew we would get wet somehow.
We decided to set up the gazebo and wash rocks underneath - a bit ironic maybe; power washing rocks while sheltering from the rain.
In less than an hour we finished all the jack rock we bought. Power washing and then wheelbarrowing around the pond border.
We’ll move it down to the shelves next week.
We washed and moved a ton of jack rock all told, not all today.
The left pallet on the left, out of focus, photo is the ‘before’.
The right is the empty ‘after’ with some really nice slate pieces laying in front.
Because that went so quickly, we had time to blast and distribute a bunch of slate.
That will be used as the deck border and to hold down the top flap of the liner. That’s still a couple of weeks off.
So the rock piles are similar to last week but,….more.
Eventually we’re probably gonna have to get in a semi-filled pond to work on it.
Anticipating that, we just bought two sets of chest waders for when the time comes. There may be pix.
The rain mostly held till we were done. So like 2 weeks ago there was a lull for the time we were out there.
Our fronts were still soaked from all the power washing but our backs were dry.
